Enterprise Resource Planning Systems, Applications and Products in Data Processing would be the long form of the acronym ERP SAP. The leader and pioneer in Enterprise Resource Planning or ERP systems at present is the SAP AG company based in Germany. Its primary product is SAP ERP software, which is just another way of calling ERP SAP as applied by the SAP AG company. SAP AG was set up by five former engineers of computer pioneer IBM back in 1970. For SAP implementation to be carried out by the SAP AG company, it divides its customers into major enterprises, medium-sized enterprises, and small sized companies. Large major enterprises are served with over 25 business solution portfolios created by the firm. SAP AG, on the other hand, offers over 550 micro-vertical packages to the latter two categories of business customers. Small- and medium-sized firms can avail of the SAP All-in-One and SAP Business One solutions. Bigger Fortune 500 corporations are more dependent on the original SAP implementation products of SAP AG.
A key partnership has been formed between SAP AG and Hewlett-Packard. In this deal, SAP will offer existing business applications with emphasis on software infrastructure while Hewlett-Packard will be responsible for future upgrades of these ERP applications. SAP will allow its Discovery System service, which it had just introduced into the industry this 2007, to be included in that arrangement. Newly-developed ERP systems related to Enterprise SOA or the SOA standing for service-oriented architecture and SAP NetWeaver technology platform will be further expanded as well. It should only be expected that SAP AG would have many competitors in the ERP software industry, since it is recognized as a pioneer of ERP systems and ERP applications. Besides ERP applications, SAP AG also works in the areas of Supply Chain Management and Logistics, Warehousing and Industrial Software, Manufacturing, Marketing and Sales Software, and Customer Relationship Management as well. But as far as SAP implementation is concerned, the SAP AG older product SAP R/3 is still a model for how SAP implementation should be done. Though SAP implementation may require years to be properly implemented, it will result in changes that will require the participation of practically all levels of the organizational hierarchy starting with the technical support specialists and ending with the non-technical end users, because SAP implementation has many high level objectives that need to be met and accomplished.
