SAP Implementation: What It Is And How It Improves Your Business
When you mention the phrase SAP implementation, what does it mean? The shortest way to define the term is that it is the implementation of SAP software in a client company or client organization. A more complicated explanation is that SAP implementation is actually a sequence of processes that lead towards a holistic method for implementing SAP within the system of the client organization. For SAP implementation to be carried out properly, we must first acknowledge that ERP software, ERP solutions, ERP systems, and ERP applications are all forms of SAP. ERP stands for Enterprise Resource Planning which is what SAP implementation aims to carry out for an SAP implementation project. In SAP implementation, there are actually four major stages we can observe. The first is project preparation here, the future end result of SAP implementation is agreed upon by those envisioning it. The second stage is the sizing and blueprinting stage in this stage, the host of ERP solutions are produced in which SAP implementation specialists will be trained. The third stage is the functional development stage. And the last stage is the final preparation stage, when final testing of the ERP system or SAP system will be done prior to implementation. It should be clarified that each of these four stages will require determination of vital activities where explanations about products or deliverables are provided. SAP implementation of any ERP solutions may be founded on previously existing literature about case studies or on best practices that have been proven to work before. When ERP software is to be used in SAP implementation, the whole organization has to be prepared for the changes that will definitely result. There are two known objectives that any organization will pose for its members to attempt to meet when pursuing implementation of the chosen ERP applications: the first would be enhanced communication; the second is fostering better return on communication because organizational members will be dependent on the same input of information.
For SAP implementation to truly succeed, planners and service providers should concentrate on securing commitments of support from everyone directly or indirectly affected by SAP implementation including the very important end users. All organizational members should be adequately informed of the vision created by the planners in collaboration with the service providers for the ERP applications used in the SAP implementation, from the very start of conceptualization, during implementation, and when the project has been completed. Then, of course, all hardware and software of the ERP solution systems should be tested thoroughly, with emphasis on technical knowledge of the ERP applications and provision of adequate technical support, so that end users are not stymied when problems unexpectedly crop up during actual usage. This will allow business continuity and complete acceptance by organizational members of the ERP applications being used. |
